Despite the rhetoric on the news, Obamacare still exists along with subsidies. This year’s open enrollment is November 1 – December 15 (45 days).
My goal is to provide you with the best service possible during this busy time. Please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org with a phone number and good time to reach you. If you call and leave a message, please allow us 24 hours to return your call.
So what’s new for 2019?
Many of the counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey will see new options and rate REDUCTIONS for 2019. Those who are not receiving a subsidy/tax credit should feel some relief.
The Trump Administration has repealed the individual mandate (monetary fine paid at tax time for not having insurance) for 2019.
Although Pennsylvania will no longer have the fine in 2019, New Jersey and few select states have opted to keep the fine on a state level.
The maximum length of Short Term Medical was expanded to 12 months in states that support it. Pennsylvania currently allows for 12 month duration Short Term Medical plans, and National General began selling on October 2nd! United Healthcare should also have a 12 month option in November. Cin lick here to quote and enroll!
Short Term Medical requires that you answer a few basic medical questions, but I feel this is the only reliable Obamacare alternative. I’m always here to help you determine what options are right for you.
I still have options available through a few local and national associations, so for those not eligible for the subsidy and in relatively good health there are options!
An important note to clients with Independence Blue Cross for 2018:
This year there will be a clear price divide between those consumers in Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties and those in Delaware and Chester Counties. Centene is selling on-exchange plans under their Ambetter brand as ‘Pennsylvania Health and Wellness.’ These will be available in Pennsylvania but only in Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Consumers in these 3 counties will find that their subsidies are not as high as in years past and hence will be paying more for their insurance. For example, the $0 silver proactive HMO in 2018 will increase to around $50 for 2019. For non-smokers Independence Blue Cross will remain the lowest cost plans. Those consumers in Delaware and Chester counties will see no change for 2019, since Independence Blue Cross is still the only carrier.
So who is Centene/Ambetter? Our parent company Custom Benefit Plans, Inc. has been working with Centene in many different states, where they are often the lowest cost plans by far. They have been a savior in many markets serving as the only Obamacare option available. When other carriers were downgrading, Centene was expanding. This is not the case for Pennsylvania, but they are new and they will most likely grow. I caution anyone in PA considering an Ambetter plan to not only look at the website’s provider tool but to actually call the providers to confirm, as the carrier is likely new to them. Please do your research before you buy. My team is well versed in Centene’s plans and can guide you making the right choice.
What about the rest of Pennsylvania? UPMC will continue its Eastern expansion to include Lehigh County and others this year. Highmark is also rolling out some new options including a few with $0 deductible options. Capital and Gesinger will still be available on exchange in select counties. My team and I work with them all and we can help you find the right fit.
New Jersey consumers will be happy to learn that because the state determined to keep the individual mandate (fine) in force, the carriers have filed rate REDUCTIONS! Amerihealth, Horizon, and Oscar (select counties) will be the on and off-exchange options to choose from.
Ambetter, Oscar, and Molina are continuing to expand nationwide and are offering very competitive options in existing and new markets. My team and I assist consumers in many different states, so feel free to reach out to us our shop all our offers right on our website.
