Our 2026 Annual Letters to Our Medicare Plan Clients

Our 2026 Annual Letters to Our Medicare Plan Clients

Each year we send out letters to keep our clients informed about changes to their Medicare plans. For 2026, the changes are bigger than usual, and many people will need to take action. Instead of rewriting the details here, we’re sharing the same letters we mailed and emailed — so you have the information directly from us, just as if it arrived in your mailbox.

Letter One: To our clients with plans being canceled on 12/31/2025

Your Medicare Plan is ending 12/31/25!

IMPORTANT: Your Medicare Plan Is Changing for 2026!

It’s once again the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, and with it comes major changes. If it has been a while since we spoke, I am Joe Covell, your broker for your current plan.

By now you may have heard that your current plan is likely being discontinued or changed so drastically that you will need to reenroll. You will have to select another plan for 2026. I can help you with this process. I am certified to offer plans from most carriers in the state and can compare all options. My services are free, and the prices you see through me are the same as going directly to the carrier.

Why is this happening? Many carriers are moving away from PPO plans:
Independence Blue Cross is discontinuing most PPO options, affecting roughly 50,000 members.
Highmark Blue Shield and BCBS in certain regions are making major changes in PA, DE, WV, and parts of NY, affecting about 150,000 members.
UnitedHealthcare estimates nearly 600,000 members nationwide will lose current plans.
Other national companies are also eliminating or altering plans.

What does this mean for you? Your plan is ending, and your carrier cannot automatically transfer you into another plan. If you do not select a new plan by December 31, 2025, you will revert to Original Medicare on January 1, 2026, leaving you responsible for 20% of costs. Losing your Medicare Advantage plan gives you a 60-day Special Enrollment Period to choose another plan. It also generally opens a Guaranteed Issue right to purchase a Medicare Supplement without medical underwriting unless your carrier’s letter specifies otherwise. You will receive more details directly from your carrier.

Important Dates:
Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 to December 7, 2025
Final Day to Select a New Plan for 1/1/26: December 31, 2025

Letter Two: To our clients whose plans are continuing with major changes

The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is Here!

It’s that time of the year againthe Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, and with it comes major changes. I am Joe Covell, your broker for your current plan (or was previously). I’m looking forward to our conversation about your 2026 plan.

This year brings challenges. For 2026, many Medicare Advantage benefits and networks are changing:

Independence Blue Cross is discontinuing most PPO options, affecting roughly 50,000 members.
Highmark Blue Shield and BCBS in certain regions are making major changes in PA, DE, WV, and parts of NY, affecting about 150,000 members.
UnitedHealthcare estimates nearly 600,000 members nationwide will lose current plans.
Other national companies are also eliminating or altering plans.

Medicare Supplement plans in general are also seeing higher costs. Rising medical expenses and changes in prescription drug coverage are leading to premium increases and reductions in benefits. The Inflation Reduction Act drug cap ($2000, rising to $2100 in 2026) shifts more expense onto insurers, and those costs flow back to members.

Friendly reminders:

  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans are not part of the Annual Enrollment Period and generally require health underwriting to change. They remain in force as long as premiums are paid.

  • Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans can be enrolled in or changed from October 15 to December 7.

Helping you find the right coverage for your specific needs is my goal. To achieve this, it would help if you would please text 267-374-0975 or email [email protected] with your current medications and doctors (a list or a clear photo works fine).
